LAUNCH DAY FEBRUARY 13, 2016

Right now we are a GO for this weekend. Keep checking for updates and cross your fingers for NO MORE RAIN, at least until after we launch!

We will start setting up the equipment at 8:30am and will open the range for the first rockets at 9:00am. We will launch until 4:00pm or sooner if things slow down.

If you need anything for the launch, you can order from Bay Area Rocketry and they will deliver it to the LUNAR launch the week before our launch or to our launch. When you order, please specify where you will pick up.

THE CEILING DECEMBER'S LAUNCH IS 2500 FEET. CONTACT DAVE KENYON IF YOU PLAN TO LAUNCH HIGH POWER ROCKETS AT THIS LAUNCH.

DIRECTIONS: Really simple:

1. Travel north or south on Highway 99 to Galt.

2 Take the 274B exit.

3. Turn onto Boessow Road and travel east for about 4.3 miles. You will come to a stop sign at the intersection with Alta Mesa Road, which means you are close.

4 The entrance to the launch site is at the end of Boessow Road.

IMPORTANT!!! Parallel park on the right side of the road. DO NOT GO ONTO THE FIELD WITH A VEHICLE OF ANY KIND! There is a crop planted and we want to make as little impact as possible. You may pitch a tent behind your vehicle.

DO NOT ENTER ANY OF THE BUILDINGS ON THE PROPERTY. There is a house and two barns and they are old and dangerous.

Members SARG membership is open to everyone who wants to participate in this fun and safe hobby. Many of us are what our hobby calls "born again rocketeers." We caught the bug as kids during the peak of the space race but left it behind as we grew older. When the kids and grandkids came, the fire was rekindled. We also have many young members who teach the old dogs new tricks with their mastery of building. We are a very social group and enjoy chewing the fat at the launches almost as much as flying rockets. So come to our next launch and check us out. Chances are, you'll get bit by the rocketry bug as well!

Non members are welcome but must sign a RELEASE FORM before launching.

We also highly recommend membership in the National Association of Rocketry or the Tripoli Rocketry Association.

SARG launches are on the second Saturday of the month. If the primary launch date is rained out, the rain date will be used, which is the third Saturday of the Month. Check the main page of our website the day before each launch to check the status.

SkipThe members of SARG recognize the educational potential of model rocketry and stand ready to fully support the area's youth groups looking for a safe place to lauch their model rockets. Our launch equipment is capable of handling 8 low power rockets at a time, so we can handle large groups easily. The group fee is $10 which gives every member of the group unlimited launches for the day. For additional information, contactTom Sarradet, our youth outreach director.

HELPFUL HINTS

  • Contact us when you plan to participate in a launch so that we can expect you.
  • You bring the kids, rockets, and motors. We supply all of the launch equipment.
  • To save time, download some FLIGHT CARDS and have them filled out before launch day. You will get through the safety officer and onto the launch pad quicker.
  • Bring water, snacks, and sunscreen. On hot days, an E-Z up will be useful. There are no trees on the launch field (they like to eat rockets, so we avaid them).
  • In addition to the low power launches, some of our members will be launching mid and high power rockets as well, so be prepared for a show.
  • Review the MODEL ROCKETRY SAFETY CODE with your group members before the launch day. You can find the club rules on the LAUNCH & MEETING SITES tab above.
